About Me
Hello there! My name is Lee Brockway, and I am a video professional based in Denver, Colorado.
I started learning Adobe Premiere, my first editing software, when I was in ninth grade for my broadcast journalism class, nicknamed K-RAM. I enrolled in K-RAM all four years of high school, and was named a Head Editor for K-RAM my sophomore year, being the only sophomore head editor when I was initially appointed. In my time as head editor, I received eight individual awards, including runner-up for Broadcast Journalism Student of the Year from the Colorado Student Media Association in 2018. Under my leadership my senior year, the program received a national award, being named Best Overall School Broadcast Program in 2018 by the National Federation of High Schools. While I'm certainly proud of the awards, I look back at that time and end up being more proud of how I grew as an editor and as a filmmaker.
Once I started film school at CU Boulder, I fell more in love with the film-making even more. Collaborating with other filmmakers and learning new ways to be an effective storyteller have helped me advance my skills and my passion for the craft is as large as ever. While the COVID-19 Pandemic hitting in the middle of my college education certainly wasn't ideal, learning to adapt to remote post-production practices has helped me become more flexible in the work I do now.
Since graduating from film school in May of 2022, I started my career at NBCUniversal as a Media Operations Technician. My role started by doing quality control checks on foreign language subtitle and audio components for the launch of the European streaming service, SkyShowtime. Since then, it has evolved into checking metadata and managing video packages for Universal's films and NBC's TV shows to delivery to vendors for digital distribution. Often times these processes need to be for shows that aired the same day (examples include Access Hollywood or WWE programming) as the deliveries to Peacock or other streaming services are due. Through this role, I have learned quite a bit about how film and television distribution works in the streaming age.
Some of my interests outside of filmmaking include running, lifting, hiking 14ers, playing Dynasty Fantasy Football, watching Nikola Jokić play basketball, logging new movies on letterboxd (shameless plug), and hanging out with my amazing girlfriend :)
Now that you know a bit about my backstory so far, I hope you learn a bit more about me through my work and experiences. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to my email leehbrockway@gmail.com!
